  • Question: Is there anything I cannot do with a Bay Scoot & Wheels car or scooter rental?

    Answer: Yes. As per the terms of the Rental Agreement, you may not use the vehicle for any illegal purposes. All vehicles MUST ONLY BE DRIVEN ON SEALED ROADS, towing is allowed with vehicles that have a towbar so long as Nelson Bay rentals have approved the trailered item with registration details. No pushing other objects, or to carry more passengers than is legally allowed for the vehicle in question.

  • Question: If I get into an accident, how much do I have to pay?

    Answer: Nelson Bay Car Rentals will only issue a vehicle with authorised/plastic copies of 100 points of ID to cover  insurance for your journey. The policy will cover out-of-pocket expenses associated with an accident while you are driving one of our cars or scooters. The standard included excess is $4,000 per claim per hire vehicle, however we have options to reduce the excess premium, contact our office to find out how. 

    To avoid breach of contract, all excess amounts must be paid within 2 business days of demand via visa, mastercard or direct debit.

  • Question: Is there a discount for longer term rentals?

    Answer: We offer excellent daily rates for our cars and scooters, with the daily price reducing as you add more days—going from a single day to 8 days. If you rent a car or motorcycle for more than 8 days, our special flat-rate daily fee applies for each added day. 

  • Question: Where can I pick up my vehicle?

    Answer: We offer scooter and car delivery services to locations in and around Nelson Bay Area. Such a service does come with a modest additional fee. We can always organize a vehicle in the Nelson Bay area, if you require the vehicle dropped off or picked up at a Port Stephens bus depot, Newcastle airport or train station, bookings are essential.

  • Question: Must I present a credit or debit card when making a booking?

    Answer: Yes, you’ll need to provide us with your payment information when you secure your car or scooter booking. Our payment options are EFT via bank details, (cleared funds must be cleared within 24 hours of accepting the rental vehicle, pending payments will not be accepted).  Visa, Mastercard with debt/credit (0.02% surcharge) or AMEX (0.044% surcharge) and cash also accepted for the retnal fee only, (bond must be on card, no exceptions).  A hard plastic card is required to be in the name of the person booking the vehicle and signing the contract, a screen shot from a mobile is not sutiable, we must sight the card itself as part of your required points of ID.   • Question: Can I have additional drivers?

    Answer: With all our scooter and car rentals 2 drivers can be named on the contract, if you require 3 or more drivers to be listed an additional $22 per driver will be charged per rental.

  • Question: Will I be charged any additional amounts for Tolls?

    Answer: Most tolls work seamlessly in Australia, our vehicles number plates are registered to receive tolls a few days later, once received we send you the toll notices and $3 plus toll fee, (capped at $12 per day) per toll charge we take care of paying your toll charges for you, so you won’t have to worry about anything but having a pleasant trip. you always have the option of adding the number plate of your rental vehicle to your own toll pass for the period your renting the car.

  • Question: What happens if I receive an infringement/fine while driving a Bay Scoot & Wheels car or scooter rental?

    Answer: Infringements will incur a $45 admin fee per infringement, this will be deucted from your card and state revenue will re-issue the infringment to the address on your license given

  • Question: Is there a booking fee when renting a vehicle from Bay Scoot & Wheels?

    Answer: Yes, there is a booking fee with Bay Scoot & Wheels, $50.00 will be charged and is fully refundable up to 7 days prior to the

    hire date. Any booking cancellations made less than 10 days prior to the hire date the will not be refunded. On collection of your hire, the $50 booking fee will be deducted from your booking total.

  • Question: Can I smoke in the vehicle?

    Answer: Our vehicles are smoke free zones, if smoking has taken place Bay Scoot & Wheels have the right to withhold the vehicle bond in full. Please dont smoke with the windows down thinking it cant be smelt, or using fragrances to cover the smell of cigarettes, it  doest work. Every renter deservers to drive a vehilce that smells without the smell off smoke.

  • Question: Can I take a pet with me?

    Answer: Pets are not permitted in any of our vehicles at any stage.

  • Question: What do we do if the hired vehicle gets a flat tyre?

    Answer: In the unlikely event that your rental car incurs a tire puncture, the vehicle is equipped with a manual and all necessary tools. If you get stuck, please contact us if needed. 

  • Question: How many kilometers are included in the hire of a vehicle?

    Answer: Including with Bay Scoot & Wheels hire is 150 free kms for each rental day. After this it is 35c p/km or $35 per 100km there after.

  • Question: Do I need to put fuel in the vehicle?

    Answer: We deliver the vehicles with a full tank of fuel 95 or 98 unleaded only. Once the vehicle is returned, we refill the fuel at Nelson Bay or Anna Bay service station. We send you a copy of the fuel receipt and deduct the fuel from the refundable bond, you WILL ONLY BE CHARGED PUMP PRICE, no extra delivery fees. if you fill the tank yourslef prior to returning, be sure to make it your last stop before returning the vehicle.

  • Question: Do I need to clean the vehicle prior to retuning it?

    Answer: Our vehicles are delivered clean. To avoid any bond being held the vehicles should be returned in the same condition it was given. A few things to look out for  ZERO animal hairs, stains, excess sand, sunscreen, body fluids, food, spilled drinks, mud, unpleasant odors ,illegal & dangerous items. T
